COMMUNITY MISSION INTERN GRANT REPORT 2017

This summer I have been blessed with the opportunity to intern with First Baptist Church of Murphysboro. They brought me onto their team in order to help coordinate and lead local mission opportunities in our neighborhoods here in Murphysboro. Our goal this summer was to encourage and inspire our members to be a light in our community and to open up opportunities for them to do so. My hope is that I have inspired others to continue reaching out and serving our community long after this summer is over.

We were able to serve our community in many different ways. We volunteered with Habitat 4 Humanity to build a home in Murphysboro. We led prayer walks through our community in order to pray for very specific and important parts of our community. I gathered small groups of volunteers for small projects helping members of our church with physical projects that they themselves could not do.
First Baptist Church of Murphysboro allowed me to help out in other ways this summer as well. I went to summer camp with their elementary age kids as a chaperone. I spent a week helping with their VBS program for local kids. I was also able to lead a handful of bible study’s for FBC’s high school guys small group on Tuesday nights.

All in all, my hope is that the congregation could see how many opportunities there are to serve in our community every day. I believe that “ministry” is simply how God wishes us to live our daily lives, share His love and His gospel with all who we encounter. This summer I was able to show others how we here at FBC can reach out into our community and make a lifestyle out of it.
